Vacation and planning next trip

Finally 3 weeks of from job! And the weather here in Norway just keeps on being awesome, around 30 degrees celsius and sunny, sunny, sunny. It’s one of the warmest and dryest summer in the last 100 years. As it seems to be all around the northern parts of the world right now.

After my last trip to the Atlantic Road, I want to travel more and discover new places. So I’m sitting here in the backyard chilling in the shade, listening to some summer tunes and planning my next trip.

Not sure yet where it’s going to be, but some where here in Norway. As I’m wanting to see and experience more of the mountains and west coast of Norway. And definitely more awesome waterfalls!

Have a great weekend! ūüôā

Road trip to The Atlantic Road – PT.3

After staying two days out on Lj√łs√łya and Lys√ł Naturcamping and Rorbuer, it was time for heading home. The first leg of the trip was straight to √Öndalsnes, for a quick charge of the car before heading up Trollstigen.

√Öndalsnes, 2018

Trollstigen is a serpentine mountain road, making its way up the steep mountain side with a 10% incline and 11 hearpin bends. It connects the town of √Öndalsnes and the village of Valldal.

When you reach the top of Trollstigen you will find the visitor center, with a restaurant where you can enjoy a dinner, lunch or quick snack with a breath-taking view over looking Trollstigen and the valley below.

There is also a couple of viewing platform at the top, that sticks out of the mountain side and gives you and unobstructive view over the valley.

Stigfossen waterfall also starts at the top, and falls 320 meters down and ends down in valley. (If you stop on the first pull out on the road before starting the incline going up you can walk down all the way to the foot of the waterfall).

That is it for this trip. It gave me a ton of inspiration and a lot of good memories. Now it is time for summer vacation with the family and this year we are probably going camping i Norway as the weather just looks amazing the next couple of weeks. The plan is driving south, so hopefully there will be a ton of photo opportunity along the way.

Hope you are all having a great summer!

And check out my friends drone video from the trip.

Road trip to the Atlantic Road – pt.2

After a short night in Dombås, we headed west towards the coast and the town of Åndalsnes. Driving trough Romsdalen, you follow the river Rauma with its many beautiful waterfalls. One of the waterfalls you can go really near is Slettafossen. A massive waterfall which is about 125 meters long, and drop of nearly 18 meters. When you stand on the bridge that goes over, you can really feel and hear the raw power of nature and the water.

From here we went on to √Öndalsnes to Molde and then finally to the Atlantic Road.

Storseisundbrua, 2018

The Atlantic Road is an 8.3 kilometer long road that goes through the rough North Sea unsheltered, and connects many small islands and skerries with 8 bridges and the Storseisundbrua being the most prominent and spectacular.

Storseisundbrua, 2018

The Atlantic Road has been declared the world’s best road trip and is part of the National Tourist Route. It’s also a popular place for automotive commercials and movies.

Storseisundbrua, 2018

At one northern end of Storseisundbrua, you will find Lyngholmen which have a walkway all around the little island and you will also find the coffee shop – Atlanterhavsveien Kafe.

It is definitely beautiful road and drive, especially if there is rough weather as this would make it a completely different experience driving the route.

Road trip to the Atlantic Road

Last weekend I finally was able to go for a long-weekend road trip to the west of Norway, and the Atlantic Road as the destination.

Started out from home the drive went up to Lillehammer, and then up to Dombås where the night was spent at a small cabin. From Dombås you can drive up to Reinheimen National Park, via the Slådalsvegen which is this summer open dirt road that goes from Lesja to Vågå. Up here you get a good view of Dovre National Park.

Hatten, Dovre

We drove a couple of miles in one the Slådalsvegen up from Lesja, to get som sunset photos over Dovrefjell. The views up here was amazing!

Sports Photography

My son started playing PeeWee Flag football this year, and since the team’s playing field is only 2 minutes away from our home we have been to all the home games this spring. Last Saturday the seniors played and I had with me my camera (X-T1 + 18-55mm), just to get some shots of my boy running out on¬†the field with the big players.

When the coach saw that i had a camera, he asked if I would like the photograph the whole game, so I ended up with my first sports photography gig!

Only having the 18-55mm with me, I couldn’t get close in on the action that day, but got some descent overview shoots of the game.

But this Saturday I came prepared, as the junior team was going against the neighboring town. I had with me the XF55-200mm, so I could get close in on the action!

Yesterday morning I watched the sun rise from the Dunes of Maspalomas and walked around in the sand dunes looking for compositions. The color photos are taken with the ClassicChrome film simulation and the B/W are with Monochrome+G film simulation, all photos taken with the Fuji X100T.
